Hi guys,

First off I need to apologise as I have no idea what model my car is apart from 320d M sport, this is a UK 63 plate build date of Sept 2013.
I have professional nav, but not enhanced Bluetooth
I have office functions/assist and apps etc within idrive but when pairing Bluetooth all I get is Telephone and not audio/office functions.
I checked the build vin site and it said I had 6NH which I believe is just usb audio and phone prep.

How easy is this to code and get the software as I seem to have read that half the links etc are virus ridden :-( etc..

many thanks for your help guys..

I have exactly the same box on my F33 (2014 428i convertible). I'd assumed this is where the SIM goes for the connected drive services (it seems to have an IMEI number on the sticker) and that the Combox was no longer required as built into the head unit. Will be good to get a correct view though.

I too want to change the 6NH to 6NS. I've received the cable I ordered via ebay today; can someone PM me links to the E-SYS software, data file and token generator please?

EBT includes Office and support for 2nd paired phone, but Basic Bluetooth does not. In addition, on older car, EBT was required to get BTAS (Bluetooth Audio Streaming), although BMW AG has since added this capability to the Basic Bluetooth Option.

Hello,

I changed 6NH to 6NS on a F21 M135i from 12/2015. It has HU_NBT2.
It seems to work: Can pair a Phone2, can use Office.

However: Bluetooth audio streaming does NOT work with Cover art or Playlist support.
(fwiw, Bluetooth streaming already works fine with 6NH, so no change here)

My impression was that this should work, too. Any FDL I need to add? Any other hints?
The two ENT_BTAS_* settings are enabled already by default in my HU_NBT2.

In regular NBT with at least 50.4 firmware, coding ENT_BTAS_IAP_COVERART gets Bluetooth Album Art, so long as broadcast source transmits it.

You have NBT2, and it should work the same, but I can't say 100% as it is new.

Thank you shaunsherridan for the PM and E-Sys details. I've just spent 30 minutes following the guides to code enhanced Bluetooth on my 2014 F33, but I seem to have failed.

First off I followed the instructions here http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8020396&postcount=7

Using the Step 1 PDF everything seemed to go as expected and as documented. I edited the SALAPA-element so that the 6NH became 6NS and followed the guide to the end.

I then moved to step 2, and confess I didn't really understand what I was doing. I think I established I have the HU_NBT headunit, but the only right click options was to expand or collapse the underlying tree.

I suspect I was in the wrong area of E-SYS (I was in Expert - Coding I think) and I've now left the car in a confused state where the FA is updated by the head unit isn't. Long and short I can't see any Office menu item, and my phone still only connects as Telephone 1. No options for audio streaming or other services.

Can anyone provide some clear instructions (like provided for step 1) for Step 2?

Hi Shaun, so glad I found this thread and forum, been tearing my hair out trying to get audio streaming, I will pm you my vin shortly (newbie) please check what head unit I have...
I think you will go bald before you will have Bluetooth Audio Streaming (BTAS). Unfortunately your car has basic ENTRY Head Unit. I can't rule it out with certainty, but the odds of it having a Combox are slim to none, and without one, no BTAS.

...and also send me.thr link for esys? Thanks in advance.
PM sent.

How would I know, when I know nothing about your car.

What Head Unit do you have? Do you have a Combox?

#150 ·
As far as I know, yes, as Euro cars have both, but I don't ever code LIM because personally I find it useless if car has CC,

shawnsheridan some time next week I'm getting the EBT coded to my car, i have all the services up until Dec 2016 (NBT PRO), will this interfere in any way when coding?

TIA
No.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum.
I have a 2011 750Li, I have bluetooth for phone calls and contacts sync.
However I don't have enhanced bluetooth to be able to play music via bluetooth.
If
1. How do I find out if my car has the capability to even support enhanced bluetooth? Is there a site i can enter my vin and find out what Combox if any comes in the car. I check the trunk of the car and all i found is battery and fuse box.
2. If it can be done what what cables, software etc do i need to code this? and can find good one on ebay?
3. Can i also update my combox to support more new apps, specifically youtube?

Please and thank you.

First post!

I've recently bought an F31 / 320D ED manufactured in May 2013. I assumed that its bluetooth would enable me to use the car stereo like bluetooth speakers, but, after pairing my iPhone 5S with it today, I was dismayed to find that it doesn't. I wasn't worried about not having satnav, since I was planning to use an app on my phone, using the car's speakers for the spoken directions.

Reading around I find that I should be able to change the 6NH option to 6NK, using only software. Will bluetooth then work as I expect?

I've just ordered an ethernet cable, now all I need is the software!
