Coding max speed

So i am gonna do ED soon and will have a car under 10 hours old.

I have the bmwesys software, and know to go to adjust vmax from whatever hex is there to FF.

The question, is....what other steps do i need to do? Does the engine need to be on or off (i think off). Is there any other steps or timing?

Assuming it works, what happens after DME has 10 hours on the clock, and dealer programs your car resetting DME Coding to defaults?

I dunno. They say, at least at dealers here, they cant change the limiter. I plan on telling them in advance that if they reduce the limiter i will expect them to fix it. As a test, i will have the turn blinkers set to 6. Thats an easy test to confirm if they screwed with programming.

So, do the steps look good? I presume engine must be off for dme? Is there a timing thing?

When dealer programs your car, at a minimum, any ECU receiving new firmware will be Encoded (VO Coded), and some ECU's that do not even receive new firmware can also be Encoded. These will be reset to factory coding. You cannot dictate to dealership to return your custom FDL Coding after they service your car.

As for the process, FDL Code DME => VMAX with Motor off, but again if this works, it is on borrowed time.

Sorry, I guess I'm unsure about the premise of this thread - it's the case that you can only code VMAX when the DME has less than 10 hours on it? Or is Furby just noting how new his car will be?

The purpose of this thread is to confirm the steps needed to accomplish the change on a brand new car.

I will be in germany so may not be able to reach the boards to ask for help.

I will also report back if it works, which seems to be something that has been lacking.

There is no way to code off the speed limiter. The car needs to be tuned in order to remove the speed limiter.

Why would you wind out the motor before the break in period anyway?

Other than testing to make sure the speed limiter turned off, I do not plan to take my car to high limits. And no, my car won't break the moment it goes over 5k RPM, or over 100 MPH.

Plus, if tuners can do it, why can't anyone else? It's not like BMW is supporting them.

I'm new to coding (only did turn blinkers to test it out). My goal is to be 100% prepared to do this in germany. Once there, I will do the test, hit the autobahn and report back. If it works, awesome, if not - then I have VERY limited time to get help from here. The bigger problem is if someone says i need to download an updated file that is large.
