1. Software Overview and Requirements:

This guide serves Fxx, Ixx, and Gxx-series vehicles. For E-series, different software and cable are used. Complete Software & Interface Overview.

Prerequisites:
  • Windows 7+ Computer.
  • E-Sys = Main Coding Software
  • PSdZData Lite(~2.5 GB) = ECU Data Files. Works for VO & FDL Coding.
  • Bimmer Utility = Provides License (ie Activation), FDL-Coding mapping, Cheat Codes (Section 7), & other optimization.
  • Connection Interface = ENET Cable (OBDII to RJ45 Ethernet) or ICOM. For computers without an ethernet port, you can use USB-to-ethernet adapters

Bimmer Utility - Mapping 4.35.42 - Only and recommended solution
  • Auto-updated and supports the latest mapping for the most accurate coding experience
    • Purchase directly from the developer's website.
  • E-sys 3.39.1 - Used with Bimmer Utility or alone for Programming and VO coding.

Latest PSdZData_Lite (~2.5 GB) WORKS FOR ALL FDL CODING & VO CODING
  • Use this guide to determine your I-Step.
  • You only need one lite version for coding that is equal to or greater than your I-Step.
    • NOTE: If you get a "Not Found [C012]" error when "Read Coding Data," it is time to update.
  • Do NOT merge. DELETE old PSdZData folder & REPLACE w/ new PSdZData folder.


By Resource:
  1. NCD / CAFD: Read *.ncd files offline and easily search for a function, viewing current settings as well as other options
  2. NCD Compare: Load *.ncd files using Folder icons or drag & drop and then the far right button initiates compare. Popup showing Left vs right values which you can highlight and copy if you choose. It also highlights *.ncd trees differences in red & you can scroll up and down.
  3. Decrypt CAFD: not just for CFDs. It also works for other Psdzdata files (eg FAFP).
  4. FA / FP: viewer; tool includes mapping (eg 430 Inter Exter mirror anti dazzle). You can search loaded FA or entire FAFP (ie available options). FP viewer allows you to view options by Vehicle Profile (FP) without loading FA (Vehicle Order).
  5. FA Compare: like #2, but comparing fas.
  6. FA-CAFD: You load individual ECUs *.ncd and can see how FA additions will affect (ie "what-if).
  7. SVT-CAFD: You load the entire saved SVT file and see how FA changes will affect (ie "what-if).

Hi everyone,
I recently swapped out the headunit in my girlfriend’s 2014 BMW 320i. She has the smaller 6.5” screen and a very basic setup—no navigation or fancy features, just the stock basic unit.
After installing the new headunit, most things are working fine. However, I’ve hit a snag with the AUX input. It shows up in the menu as an option, but no sound comes through when I try to use it.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
  1. Checked all the wiring connections during the swap—everything seems secure.
  2. Confirmed that the AUX port worked before replacing the headunit.
  3. Verified that the new headunit is functional for radio, Bluetooth (for calls), and other features.
For reference, here’s the information on both headunits:
Old Headunit (original):
  • Part Number: 6512 9341083-01
  • Headunit Type: ENTRY US N CP
  • BT ID: 000319406876

New Headunit (replacement):
  • Part Number: 6512 9299274-01

In addition to fixing the AUX issue, my girlfriend would really love to have Bluetooth audio for music (currently, the Bluetooth only works for calls). Does anyone know if this feature can be enabled through coding, or if there’s a hardware or software upgrade needed to add Bluetooth audio streaming?
Also, I’m currently putting together a virtual machine with the necessary tools for BMW diagnostics and coding. Could anyone share a reliable download source for E-Sys and any other tools I might need for coding (e.g., PSdZData, ISTA+, etc.)? Any advice on setting up these tools would be greatly appreciated!

For coding, PM sent. Bluetooth Streaming with ENTRY Head Unit only possible if car has a standalone Combox (CMB_MEDIA).

Hello, looking to code a used headlight module (TMS) to a 2014 5 series F10. Is there a free version of the E-sys + launcher that is be available to do this with? Have ISTA and that works for teach-in process but think the module needs to be recoded so it'll hold its initialization (right now it only works until the car is shut off and is back to having headlight malfunctions when it is started back up).

Hello, I've been struggling to get a working SP-Daten directory. I have been searching for the Fxx, but cannot find a copy of this that works and contains everything necessary. I need to make sure that I have my sgdat for both the base and fxx (and honestly every other file), so I can properly recode a replacement 8hp45z for my 2012 F10 535i. Thanks in advance!

Hello, a few months ago I installed E-sys from links provided by this forum, thank you again by the way. I installed E-Sys v3.40.2, and attempted to use v.4.48.40_PSdZData_Lite since I was only going to code my son's used tms module on his 2015 528i. I didn't get very far because after a connection was established to the car I pressed the read button on the vehicle order box and received a, "No FP could be generated from FA" error. Thinking maybe I may need the full PSdZData I deleted the lite version and replaced it with PSdZData 4.48.31 Full version and the same error resulted. Noting that the installed version of E-Sys is v3.40.2, is error caused because I need a newer version of E-sys to work with the newer data as explained in the instructions? If so, would someone provide a link to the proper version or could jt be a different problem? Thank you.

Thank you for the advice, I finally got everything working properly and I learned a lot through the process. I learned how to create a FA file using Esys and a Vin decoder site and now I know what SALAPA is, it's not a sauce that you scoop your tortilla chips in as I previously thought lol. I also learned what a great tool Bimmerutility is. After going through the pains of creating the FA file using Esys alone it occurred to me that I bought Bimmerutilty months ago and never used it, well duh! What a time saver and everything is built in!

Good day, who can help here and clarify. I am using ISTA+ and foxwell for mostly t-shooting and now want to code. It looks like bimmer utility is the go-to solution as it simplifies everything for beginners. Question, can I get away with BU for all the needs like retrofit, code new/used modules, modifications or I need ESYS? Also, what is the difference between esys 3.39.1 setup and esys 3.40.1_BU on mega? there are two links.

You can use BU in conjunction with E-Sys or as a Standalon Coding App. Either E-Sys version will work fine, there is no noticeable difference.
