Bimmerfest 2015 sponsored by ESS Tuning is on the move to Auto Club Speedway on May 23, 2015! Mark your calendars and start organizing your caravans to the show. This year we are excited to be adding some exciting new elements including a full course track day. We have much more to announce and are looking forward to a bigger and better Bimmerfest 2015 this May!
As always, Bimmetrfest will have all of the biggest names in the BMW world attending the show this year including aFe Power, BMW Santa Barbara, ESS Tuning, Forgestar Wheels, Magnaflow, Sparta Evo, Street Edge, Toyo Tires and many more.
Sorry if there was any confusion. There will be a track day going on alongside the show. More details about the track day and how to sign up will be coming shortly.
For all of those BMW drivers in the San Diego area, if you are going to Bimmerfest 2015 and know anyone whom is starting a meetup to drive up to Bimmerfest let me know or we can just start a thread now to start planning.
I go to socal euro every year witch is the same type of event but open to a wider variety of cars.
SO many people go, only 5-10% race witch is enough for spectators and lets you run more often. This gives people a way to vent there need for speed, honestly it is about time!
Since its at the auto club speed way this year, we need to take the 15 instead of the 805. Meet location this year will be Mira Mesa Mall. Mira Mesa Mall
San Diego, CA 92126
United States
Meet up time will be 5am and depart at 5:20 latest. We won't wait for anyone, if you are late you will need to catch up. Not sure if we are meeting up with OC at ikea this year or not. Anyone know if the 15 or the 215 is better to drive? Id say stay on the 15 to make it simple and not lose anyone.
Have a few friends with me this year. The silver M3 is mine. Also bring cash, walkies, sun screen, chairs, water and snacks. $20 to get it to the show and remember to register for the event. I'll look for a gas station on the way up in case we need to stop but I don't think that will be an issue. Make sure to check oil and pre inspect your car before you leave.
Send me your contact information to my email if you're interested in meeting up. michaelwitte87@gmail.com I will shoot you a text so we can get everything set up.
What? Fontana spent sevral years building a sound wall so we can finally use the drag strip again and now that it is done we cant use it at bimmerfest?
Basically if you don't wanna pay 200$ And/or run a road coarse 4x no fun for you???? Thats so lame.
Socal Euro gets it, 0$ to enjoy a car show as good or better and 40$ If you wanna race all day. This may be an improvement but it sure has a long way to go before its great. I cant imagine its that hard to do, if anything it should be easier..
This is a nice change of pace...basically nothing like this has happened at Bimmerfest before. I remember when parking on the grass became a huge deal, it is was like progress, now this??
Just wish I could head west to enjoy it.
Ya what? There are tons of days where the drag strip is 20$ all day!
200$??? 4x.... Competitive???? Not even actually racing, it is all just timers..
I never understood what we where paying for before anyways??? To park on grass... (If u get there early?)
20$ all day is competitive as 8th mile drags are 40$ typically.. So a 1/4 for half is amazing.
This is at best a fair value option to go with the already existing rip off but only for those who can really afford it.
Sadly, I'm betting those younger people who do the burn outs and such cause they really need the vent and get us in trouble probably are the ones who cant afford it anyways.
You could triple or quadruple the 20$ fee make a huge profit and it would still be accessible to far more people.
Thanks for the feedback. Bimmerfest has always been a social event, not a driving event. When we looked at adding in driving a track day seems to fit the typical BMW owner more then drag racing. Just look at the track day offerings from all the BMW CCA chapters. Anyway I hear that we have interest in drag racing and can explore adding that in the future. For this year I hope you'll still come out and enjoy the BMW owner community that only Bimmerfest can provide.
I own cones, i get paid to drive threw them... Not the other way around.
Its more a "street legal drag" street racing that is not on the street that the poor kids getting us in trouble can afford!
Since its gonna happen, why not give them
A legal place...
Case and point, last year! Half of Bimmerfest in e36's most who want to do burn outs and not pay 200$.
Likely why we again needed a new location.
When you are the only one on the track, what is the fun in that?
4x for 200$ when I've made 20+ at a drag strip when ever i felt like it.
And you never come home with video of you beating, well anything.?
If it was not at the best drag strip in state that was recently finished i would not feel so strongly it just blows my mind.
It was soooo close to being PERFECT. Now i can take or leave it.
Thanks again for the feedback. Have you ever done a track day? They're a blast and you get 4 20-25 minute sessions on the track. It's not a race but it's as close to wheel to wheel racing as you can get in your own car. For me I'd rather track day, I have little interest in drag racing. But different strokes for different fokes, right?
As I said we'll look to add it in a future year
I agree with you whole heatedly! I bought a BMW cause I like Grand Prix/formula1. If I wanted to go fast in a straight line I would have bought a Vet, Mustang, Nova, Chevelle, Camaro, or something with a higher displacement then 3L... Hell even a Chevy truck could make a better choice!!!
Also as I understand it this is a first time any kind of driving venue has been offered at one of these events, and that's just awesome! Keep up the strong work planning committee, and don't let anyone discourage you from fine tuning this idea, (price, as that seems to be the biggest complaint) and making it a reoccurring feature at future events.
I only wish that my job would have kept me in so cal so I could enjoy the sun with y'all. So do me a favor and think warm thoughts while I sit here getting frostbite.
Well maybe if you offer the Roval for 20$ then... Instead of just parking, but not even where you like or with the people you came with lol..
Still don't understand why we pay to park at all!!!
Last time i ran the Roval it was only 160$ , and felt it was not worth it personally.. (Why the price hike?)
Because it is not really racing and so long you kinda end up just driving in circles..
Id rather race for 10 sec at a time against people, and do it as often as i like for 10% the money.
You can challenge people to races, the caravans there tend to be more a race then the Roval. LOL
$200 is bit since I'm losing 2 days of work to go. It's my daily driver and first time on a real track like this. If I mess up my daily there I won't be able to get home lol. This year I'll watch and then next year try it out I think. Maybe they can drop the price next year.
Lol nice... Yeah I get it! I mean I'm not made of money and would not be able to participate, but you got to see that they are at least mulling it over, and instead of people just going off on them we all need to support this and then start a thread to petition the cost. But if you start bitching about it they are just going to permanently pull the plug as it would be too much hassle.
Anyhow, I'm just trying to say to reinforce the good more than you scold the bad, or also said as, you can catch more flies with sugar then you can with vinegar.

But how would you feel if they held the meet at the nurburg ring on a normal 20$ All day day normally but then say we wont use it.. Lets ONLY hold 8th mile drags in the parking lot for 200$ after 20$ parking...
This really sounds like a blast. I have been wondering if there was anywhere I could really open my car up and combining that with a huge meet could be great. Is it a car show thing? I mean would be a 6 hour drive for me I think from Bay Area, so car would be a mess! lol
Its ok.... But if you really just want a place to open it up i believe you should fine laguna seca and eve. Willow springs are get closer, and the same price (or less even) for much much more track.
May save you a drive? Check it out of that is your particular interest.
