Which is the right diff fluid to use in an 07 M Coupe? I'm at the dealer and they insist on using p/n 83221467993 while many here recommend the 583 SAF-XJ + FM Booster diff fluid. The dealer insists that they only use the 583 fluid if your dif grinds and that it only applies to the E46 M3, not the E86 Z4 M Coupe. I thought the M Coupe shares the same M differential as the E46 M3?

I saw your conclusion on Zpost. I have no ducumentation that supports it.
What bulletin do you have that the Z4 coupe uses it?
E46 and E86 diffs are different part numbers what ever that means.

BMW Operating Fluids group 33 dated 02/2007 says E46 M3, E60 M5, E63/64 M6 and E85 M roadster and M coupe requires SAF-XJ Fluid.

Bulletin si b 33 01 02 May 2007 which supercedes April 2007 says grinding on the E46 M3 from start of production through Dec 2003.
The revision (May 2007) adds models E60 M5, E63/64 M6 all production.
