Seems possible to me. Seeing as how it shortens the travel, it's entirely feasible that it wears out the clutch more, right?

Researching the thing here, contemplating buying if it has no side effects.

It is possible and most likely yes a little, but the clutch is self adjusting, so I would assume that the clutch would adjust itself to the point that you set on your clutch stop.

Make sense?

I would think that there'd be more wear when you have the clutch pedal pushed in, like when you're sitting at a stoplight. But no way to know for sure without talking to a BMW tech.

The only problem should be if you have it set up too high so that the clutch is still in contact with the pressure plate (slipping) this would accelerate wear. If the bimmer clutch is self adjusting as reported then this should remedy itself unless it's grossly out and cant be compensated by the self adjuster.

Sounds about right, and the idea of the clutch actually being used less as eugene pointed out is something I thought about too.

Think I'll order one in the spring (as if I don't have enough stuff to do to the car in spring) when I feel like tinkering with the car .

Thanx for the feedback!

Took 4 post to get to the RIGHT answer...Not bad.

On bimmer.org people would STILL be guessing and spouting answer out of their collective asses...

Okay, my .org rant of the day over. Time to go back there and stir up some more trouble. I'm as polarizing over there as the new 7 series...I don't know if that's good or bad.

The DIY at www.bmw330ci.com answers all your questions.
Why buy the stop. It's a simple project that will cost you $3 max.
