Dear experts

Model: 520d f10
Year: 2011
Gearbox: manual
Country: Ireland

i cannot still use cruise control.
i can set it with message saying cruise control ready but when i press the res button i get the message cruise control cannot be activated.

Any ideas?

I changed battery thinking it may have played a role in it. Just stopped working a few days ago.

Was the new battery "registered" with the car's electronics? Modern (post 2006) BMWs require the new battery to be registered. Otherwise there can be charging issues.

Are there any other issues? Have you scanned the engine computer (ECU) for codes? Codes can be present with out the SES/CEL light being on. The SES light means that an emissions related code is present.

Scan the ECU first. Then report back.

Cruise control will only operate when all the sensors involved are working. Think about what it needs to know about driving conditions and what the driver is operating...eg brakes, clutch, speedometer...

This happened with my mt Volvo a few years ago...tricky intermittent fault...hydraulic oil dripping onto sensor.

Read the codes.
