What do people do about holding cups in the rear of the e46?

After further research I see BMW has a part # for a dual rear cup holder that fits under the rear armrest:

52207041830 about $45.

Has anyone any experience with installing this--e.g. are more parts required for installation than just this part?

Do you have to completely remove the OEM armrest? (Specifically for the ZHP) All they have is leather and cloth which isn't alcantara.
