What is the difference between 318i and 318is? Is it just suspension or is there a hp difference?

The I.S. should be a couple, thus only 2 doors. I may be wrong tho.

The 318i is 1.8 but the 318is after 1996 were 1.9

There is about a 5-6 bhp difference...if that

The 318IS come in the 2 and 4 door. I own the coupe version. The IS come with the twin throttle body, twin cam, bigger injectors and fuel pump as well as the suspension and upgraded brakes. The 318I comes out with single throttle body single cam and some twin am. Great little car they get up andmove for what they are.

I thought the 1.8 has 115 BHP and the 1.8is has 140 BHP? Or was that only after they put in the 1.9?

i guess there is the 1.8 is one motor the weak one, 1.8i and 1.8is would the same motor in coupe/sedan which is the 140hp motor that DOM has.

The 1.8 is what it is. The 1.6 is the real weak one, because 100 BHP just isn't enough to accelerate a car this size at an acceptable rate!

I thought that too B/\/\W, my source must be wrong
Parkers.co.uk is a reliable place for all car data. I look there for all BMW stuff, they have all the engine releases for each model under the technical data section of each model.

What wrong with a 4 cylinder?

Just cos you have an M3, doesn't make the 318i or 318is a bad thing

You bloody grow up!
