On the way home after work one day I noticed that the digital compass in the rearview mirror was not visible. After 15 minutes I noticed that the display was coming back into view, however it was quite dim. I performed the compass calibration and checked the proper zone as stated in the owners manual. No help.
I turned the car into the dealer to repair the compass display and replace the door speaker covers-small ones (anybody having problems with these also?). The dealer replaced the rear view mirror and tried to replace the speaker covers (another long drawn out story).
Again, the next day, on my way home the compass display was not visible. I called my SA and asked them if I could come by and show them the problem. Sure enough just as I was pulling into the service drive the display was working, somewhat. I asked my SA to open a PUMA. Meanwhile, today I was going home and wondered if the compass problem was temperature or light related. I directed my center A/C vents towards the rear view mirror and in about 2 minutes the display came on full bright.
Has anyone else seen this problem? I would appreciate your input or experiences; the dealer hasn't called in two days and I am trying to be patient about this problem.
