E36 ‘97 328iS VIBRATION ABSORBER

I noticed today that the exhaust VIBRATION ABSORBER is hanging by its thin cable. Further examination shows the plastic? collar is broken.
BMW part# … 433 175.
Approx $75.
Q: Would I ever know if it’s gone if I cut the cable?
