Just bought my first BMW. It's a 1999 328is it needs some work, but I got a good price so,I feel it will be worth it. The biggest thing is that my passenger door won't open. Pulling the door handles does nothing. The interior one feels normal, but the exterior one feels as if it isn't connected to anything. If the car is locked Pulling the interior door panel will unlock it. The door panel is already off. I've looked through other forums, but I still can't figure it out.

Welcome to Bimmerfest!

Since neither door handle unlatches the door, I'd suspect the door latch itself is broken. It's going to be a real challenge to get the door open to replace it. I've tried to post a link to a DIY, but the software keeps stripping it off my reply. Search Google for "E36 door latch replacement" and go to the Pelican Parts article.

I couldn't find your article when I did that search in Google. I am interested in seeing your DIY. I am not too fond of Pelican's article.

I was finally able to open the door and now it works perfectly. I didn't even have to replace anything haha.
