Like the title says, I need a new heater valve. On ebay I see rebuild kits (with rubber seals, o-rings, plungers etc) cost around $30. Also on ebay I see whole Chinese heater valves for around $60.

The rebuild kits seem a bit expensive when you can get a new (albeit chinese) heater valve for just a bit more.

Anyone have experience with this?

The typical failure for the heater valve is the seals between the plungers and the solenoids that drive them break down and let coolant into the solenoids. You can replace the seals, but that doesn't address the damage the coolant has done to the solenoid windings.
I'd try the Chinese unit before I'd try the rebuild kit. I suspect once you got your original valve assembly opened up you'd be buying a replacement valve anyway.
