I'm having trouble finding the truth, are there US versions of the E36 wagon? All i've researched have Euro plates. I'm looking for a beater to clean up, and eventually do some kind of swap.

yeah you can get them and will have to get them inspected and few other things. My brothers buddy has one that he brought over. Took allot of paperwork and crap, but it is legal.

If they were AWD I would be all over getting one down here from Canada to use to take my kayak to the river and to play with in the winter, but I just don't see the point of a two wheel drive wagon.

I've been looking for one (worth buying) for a few years now. They are nearly as rare as 1994 ///M3s.
