For the first time since I bought my bimmer I had three passengers in the rear. They asked "Where's the center seat belt latch?"
It was missing somehow; so I removed the rear seat bench to find it (and a 2002 dime).
At first, I didn't know what the procedure was, and I was a long way from my Bentley manuals, but, a minute of trial and error had the seat off.
So that the next person benefits, apparently all you need to do is lift up on each side and then pull toward the front. There is apparently a cylindrical "fist" which fits in a cylindrical "canyon" molded into the foam on the bottom of the leather-covered rear seat bench.
Essentially, ya' just pop it up and pop it back in when you're done.
