E60 545 the chills

What's up everyone, I'm new to this site if you guys could reach out to me that would be great. OK so my car has the chills as I'm driving both front end thrust arm bushings were shot, so I went ahead and replaced both front upper control arms meyle brand that I bought from Bavarian auto sport for US$149.99. The whole car had horrible tremors as I drove as now it drives much smoother less clunking much less.. but I'm still getting a clunking sound and when I take off a little bit hard car starts to shake, take off normal not that bad but this occurs around 10 to about 55 mph sometimes. What I did notice was that as I kind of force the car to speed when it's shaking feels as if tho something was falling into place. Any comments are very welcome . Trying to hit the bulls eye money doesn't grow on trees. Thanks.

ps. When I apply the brakes the shaking doesn't stop.

Hello and Welcome...

You'll probably get a better response posting your questions in the specific forum, as well, once in that forum, there is a search feature that might help you find similar cases as yours and identify what the possible issue could be.
I moved this over to the E60 5 series forum. Have you checked your tire pressure? Are your wheels balanced? How is your alignment?

Brand new tires, tire pressure is good, and alignment has been checked. It rained a few days ago and noticed that while I was driving in wet conditions the car would drive smoother and it's nice and hot now and car feels horrible.
Did you pre load the suspension prior to tightening the bushing bolt ? Also did you line up the marks on the bushing and control arms ?

Yes HF everything was installed correctly, tho I got home today after work and put the car up on the ramps it seems my front right side lower control arm bushing is wobbly under the weight of the car car. I already ordered a set of front lower control arms of eBay for US $75.00 should be in Monday can't wait to switch them out and hopefully that takes care of this massive tremor in the car.
I miss read your post . Don't know why i thought you just changed out the thrust bushings .
Ya ok good luck .
Do you also hear a clunking noise that seems to be coming from under your seat? Could be the driveshaft.

I'm not sure because car drives smooth on highway and on streets if it was the shaft I think it would be a constant clunking noise and it's not a constant clunk just at times.

The driveshaft is not a constant clunking. It can develop at higher speeds but is usually much more of an issue when taking off from a dead stop at moderate acceleration. It starts as a clunk or thump noise and typically as speeds increase and the load on the driveshaft decreases the noise and the feeling it produces goes away. Usually one can reproduce the noise and the feeling at lower speeds simply by accelerating hard.

So you have already replaced the complete arm assembly that the thrust bushings are in (the ones that point towrad the front of the car)? Typically the lower control arms never develop a problem on these cars.

I also own a 545i and experienced a similar problem it was in fact my gear box which was faulty i had a replacement done by ZF Transmissions in Johannesburg
Front suspension shakes are often felt in steering wheel at times when you can't feel it in car.
Driveshaft vibration is felt in car with little or no sense of it through steering wheel.

Front end vibration will be higher amplitude and lower frequency usually, like you are taking a 2 litre drink and trying to shake it.
Driveshaft vibration will be lower amplitude and a faster frequency, like when you shake a small paint can before use.

Both causes will go up in frequency as road speed increases.

Strikes me as driveshaft. Giubo coupler wear together with driveshaft centering bushing failure can result in clunks and vibration. The vibration can be intermittent initially. The Giubo couplers tend to keep drive centered. If the centering bushing is broken the driveshaft will sometimes be pushed to the side and it will vibrate.

That does sound pretty dead on in your description i believe my parts should be out for delivery today when ever i get the car up on the lift i will def need to check the biugo.

I will def do that and check that on tbe car today when its on the lifts is it very spottable if its damaged.

My transmission works absolutely fine shifts perfect no error messages even shifting eat doesnt hesitate to change gears
Just go to the dealership and pay the $110 for a road force balance on your wheels.

My problem is the drive shafts center support and my giubo, I told the guy that sold me the car at the car lot if he could fix it I mean I just bought the car and already dropped 1K into the thrust arms themselves and I tell him if he could by the parts there an extra few hundred bucks, guy says it's too much, and he had his lambo murciélago parked in front of the car lot, I'm like he must must feel pretty good ripping off people and not helping out.:thumbdwn: just need to wait to get my parts in I'm kind of stressed out just driving the car.:tsk:

Alright sorry for taking a while to post parts finally came in the day before, installed yesterday and in fact it was the drive shaft center support bearing the rubber was completely gone. New parts installed yesterday were guibo/flex disc, lower control arms, and centering sleeve well thats what i believe as i didnt get that used part returned to me. Anyways banging is gone, driving on highway kind of feels like a speaker inside the car, steering wheel is a little to the side and shakes while driving but this is definately alignment. Got alignment check setup for this weekend, since new bushings and lower and upper control arms were replaced. Ill submit pics tommorow.
