As I read 'Diesel Technology', it says there are Grade 1 and 2. 'Grade 2 is used for passenger cars and is the most widely available.'
But in the gas station, we only see one option for Diesel.
Has it to be Grade 2? How do we tell?

Brake pads
I have a 2009 x5 and had brake pads put on in March. Lights came on today stating pads are low and I new ones. What's the average price to have brake pads replaced?

Can you suggest the best option that would simulate information for a FSM, factory service manual. Something that identifies the nuts, bolts, sizes, torque specs? I have found software for sale, but it never includes my year 2011 x5 Msport 5.0i.
For my other car I have a reference for actual work, and not just all the pages of the theoretical engineering of the components.
I am finding that not that many folks get into the DIY stuff as I do, but hopefully with the 2011's coming off leases and therefor warranties, there will be more folks like me starting this year.

Hi all I have question if any one can give some input, my 2008 x5 recently when ever I start the engine in the morning or the first start of the day ,the rpm is up to 1 and when it getting down below 1 to get stable the car have few second shake and the it be normal but the shaking is very obvious ,is this normal? Or I need some timing adjustment ?pls adviseAusgezeichnet!!
Hello to all BMW owners out there. I am a newbie on here and am in the process of buying my first BMW X5 M E70 (11/2009) build with 104,000km's. I had a pre purchase independent Mechanical Inspection done on this vehicle and a few things came up of concern. Firstly and most importantly it was brought to my attention about an oil stain underneath the sump guard. Where would this oil be coming from? Sump plug seal? Rear main seal? The inspector who came across the stain on the sump guard could not identify any further where the leak/weep was coming from unless the guard was removed which he didn't have the authority to do. Can anyone shed any light on what might this weep/leak be or where it is coming from?
Also the drivers side rear shock absorber is leaking oil and a stain is present. Is this a common fault on the X5's. Also the rear brakes and rotors need to be replaced as they are on the borderline of needing replacement. Can anyone tell me the servicing costs associated with this model BMW E70 X5 M 4.4 V8 twin turbo? Any other information would be much appreciated. I need to make a decision in the next 24 hours whether to proceed in buying this vehicle and getting the dealer to fix the above mentioned problems as stated in the conditions of the contract before I sign up on the vehicle. Is there any other problems I need to look out for, for this particular model? Cheers Chris

I know very smart guys on theirs terms know how to ripoff other one * know where can get drugs.
Knowing everything what not have common use or practice in the life.
Some peoples getting Diplomas from University and other buying on Ebay.

Has anyone come across any sort of maintenance schedule for the 35d? Yes the onboard computer advises that "service" is due but unless we chat with a SA there's no way of knowing of what is actually is due. This is what I did at the 30k mile interval but now I'm approaching the next major service (about 50k miles) but don't necessarily want to engage the SA quite yet. Thanks
