Misfire at idle,engine light flashing
New Air flow Meter
Car just back from main dealer..changed injector,coils,plugs..£800,car exactly the same.
Suggested new DME..£1400..no guarantee it will cure the problem
Any suggestions welcome any good BMW diagnostic people,Cheshire/Staffs area.

Unlikely needs a new DME. You need to post the exact error codes here. It would be better if a bmw specific scanner was used. I repaired an N55 last year where the dealer said it needed a new engine. Just needed walnut blasting to remove carbon build up. Not saying that***8217;s your issue but some places throw new parts like darts, hoping that one of them will eventually hit the target.

Quick update..might help with diagnosis
Car left overnight, from cold starts and idles like a Swiss watch. As the engine warms the idle drops..still steady. But as soon as you rev the engine...misfire returns and EML light comes on.
Will plug the car in and obtain the error codes asap.

BMW-North...appreciate your thoughts.I was disappointed that a BMW main dealer could not do better for...$1000+

I assume all four injectors were changed, right? Because you did mention "injector" and £800 does seem low for the job. Mine cost 80% more at main dealer in Cyprus and I know that the prices dont vary too much on the continent at official dealers, due to guidelines set by Germany.
I do have exactly the same car.
Btw, preparing to charge 1400 and not guaranteeing solution sounds ridiculous. That wouldn't fly here, too much strong competition from indy specialists, where is where I go.

Dio //M...BMW dealer ran a diagnostic check and said only one injector was faulty...the others have been changed within the last 6 months .I was disappointed by their response/inability to give a certain diagnosis

Plugged the car in and obtained the following codes...
29E2 Fuel injection rail pressure sensor
2ACB DME relay
30BB DME internal failure
2A2C Fuel mixture control 2
29CF Misfire cyl 3
29F3 Fuel pressure sensor
30C3 Oil pressure signal
2E85 Cooling pump comm
29E1 Fuel mixture control 2
29F1 Fuel pressure plausibility
Taking into account the problem started a bit hit and miss...run fine for days and then start playing up.Im going for the DME relay first...also the cheapest!.

Yikes ! I would check the DME main relay first (2ACB) I believe it is in the main fuse panel not the DME box, but the 2.0 might differ - it***8217;s a black cube. Got any good indy shops near you that have a full suite of BMW factory diagnostics?

Btw. Do you have any aftermarket wiring hooked up in this car?

If you do need a DME buy a used one and get it coded to your car by an Indy. Don***8217;t use a dealer.

To the basics: Did you clear these codes and retest? Old codes retained for years until cleared.
