I am having issues with my 2007 bmw x3 3.0si. One day I got an engine misfire (due to a bad ignition coil) and when I checked codes, I also found problems with my Ebox fan and DMTL system. I replaced my Ebox fan today, but when I tested the old fan it worked. This leads me to believe that I might have blown a fuse. Does anybody have any idea of where the fuse is for the electronics box blower fan? Ive been searching everywhere, and some information that I've found has led me to believe the ebox fan and DMTL systems might have the same fuse (which would make sense if both are acting up) but I have not gotten any for sure answers.

I believe that the fuse might be located in the engine-electronics box (not the main fuse box in glove box), but I cannot find any good fuse diagrams so I could be wrong.

If anybody has experience replacing these items, or may have more information, please let me know. Thanks!

The ebox fan fuse is # 2 (30 amp) in the engine electronics fuse carrier. That same fuse protects a lot of other components including the ECM, fuel pump relay, VANOS solenoids, etc. If your engine is otherwise operating properly then the error code is most likely not being caused by a bad fuse.

I took the e-Box fan out and the fan motor was running intermittently, I took the motor apart but the armature was worn out and not repairable. Instead of spending $145 at BMW for a complete fan unit I instead purchased a new electric motor at Radio Shack: $5.95 9-18V DC motor, PN# 2730256 it fits into it's housing as good as the original and works perfectly! The fan's impeller was easy to remove from the old motor's shaft, the new motor's shaft was exactly the same diameter.. so an easy slam dunk!
