Hi all, anyone knows how to do coding to retrofit a Servotronic BMW f20? The code would be the 216 in FA and make CODES in all modules or would have to do more ?

thanks

Does anybody know the difference between "Variable Sport Steering" 2VL and "Servotronic" 216 ?
Neither are available in my country. I looked them up in the BMW website german configurator.

The descriptions are:

Variable Sportlenkung
Variable Sport Steering
2VL
350,00 ***8364;

According to Google Translate: Adjustment of the steering angle of the front wheels depending on the steering angle, direct and agile handling at lower steering effort. This system adjusts the steering ratio to the front wheels depending on the steering angle. This allows you to feel as more comfort when parking, greater agility on winding roads and more safety at high speeds.

Servotronic
216
100,00 ***8364;

According to Google Translate: The Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering provides a support. So when driving slowly minimal steering effort is required. With increasing speed, the steering assistance is continuously reduced, the contact with the road is direct and the steering more precise. Maximum comfort when parking and maneuvering, by a minimum of effort with increasing speed more direct contact with the road.

I looked up on RealOEM.
It seems like 2VL uses different hardware...

...while 216 uses standard hardware, and the retrofit requires only a FSC code:

Interested in this as well. A friend of mine wants to upgrade his F30 Servotronic with the 2VL option. He has the necessary hardware.

Hi Shawn, can give me the link to generate FSC for servotronic pld

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, there is no such thing. The only FSC Code that can be generated outside of BMW AG is a map FSC Code. All other FSC Codes must be issued by BMW AG and signed with their Private Encryption Key. As I recall, EPS was expensive too, around $450 USD.

I think it should work fine with Servotronic disabled...

Did your car originally have normal steering (standard equipment), variable steering a.k.a. Servotronic (216) or sport variable steering (2VL)?

Hi guys,

Sorry I got a little confused on which I actually need to replace my steering box and hope that someone might be able to help.

My car currently has the S216 option from factory, but since the steering box is going bad so I would like to replace it with the S2VLA steering box.

But before I go and order the parts and attempt the replacement and code it myself, I would like to see if I need to make a purchase for a FSC code of some sort?

Thanks for all the help in advance guys.

Guys, thanks for all the help, but I gave up on VSS and stick to a 216 box. As it's a bit too pricey to be advanturous.

The new box also finally came in.

Before I get my hands dirty and did anything stupid, is there anything I need to read out from my old box before taking it off?

Also, after I get the FSC repair kit, do I import them the same way as injecting FSC activation code using ESYS?

Thanks again guys.

Well, therein lies the problem with used ECU. You cannot Import and Active your EPS FSC Code (LJ54737_00830001.fsc) into used ECU as it has newer FSC Code, so you have an FSC Code Creation Date Error. I don't know of any solution except to use a different Steering Rack / EPS that is virgin, or from car without EPS.

Is there a way i can know all the other necessary modules to code along with the EPS?
Not that I know of. VO Code them all to be safe, but do not code DME / DDE with motor running.

What Link? EPS FSC Codes are VIN specific, issued by BMW AG.

Do you have an EPS FSC Code issued for your VIN that for some reason you now need?

Then you would have to order FSC Code from BMW AG, and be prepared to pay a lot of money for it...
