I'm new to the forum and recently purchase a used x5 which needed an engine.
I swapped the current engine, an 01 x5 3.0 AWD with an 01 330ci 3.0 front wheel drive engine. The engine starts, runs and idles fine. The transmission gear selector and linkage appears to be connected properly but the tranny WILL NOT engage the wheels. Selector glides thru D,R,N, and back to Park with no effect.,,, (I'm stuck like Chuck), Anyone got an answer?, what am I missing? Please help..
