BMW X5 2010 35D Diesel engine. The part i am looking for under the hood. I highlighted it in blue which goes from left to right. The plastic black pice mount on top of it as a weather shield that sits on top of the intake manifold. Look at the second picture the trim rubber is Item 21 in the second picture. I am looking for the part that the rubber trim mounts to.

you are ready my mind :) that's exactly why I am urgently looking to get them back on. I called a local junkyard and they want to charge me $200 for the trim that sounds expensive for the trim to be honest. I looked them up on eBay and I found them for about $50. so I am not sure if I should go for the aftermarket or get me one off a junkyard and pay the extra.

Has anyone tried the aftermarket trims?

Why spend $200 for junk when BRAND NEW BMW DEALER PARTS are $200???

$53 for the center

the two sides are NOT THE SAME (ie "two of #10" is a bad plan)

$75 for each side

Buying junkyard parts these days are a fools errand, IMO. Their prices suck - IMO I havent thought of a junkyard in over 10 years.

You wanna try a chinese part from ebay at $48 fr all three, report back. Not worth it for me.

agreed, I thought the dealer will charge 3x that. save $50 -$100 is not worth the risk especially the failure of that part means injector 6 issue. it rains a lot in NJ.

question, under the engine air filter and on top the intake manifold there is a foam type protector that covers the intake and sits under the filter (it could be an intake silencer). this part is breaking down into pieces that fall between the engine bay here and then. I have am been looking for a name to get it replaced as well but I was not able to find it.

# 10 , 14 and 15 buy it from BMW dealer. Newer ones are fibreglass and resist hit and do not crumble like the old rubber ones. Every old X5 needs it replaced as old ones become brittle and crumble due to high heat in the engine bay

There are actually 5 pieces. One little piece on each side of the main 3 parts. One of mine had failed. I replaced all 5.

FWIW. Not a common finding, everyone cites "3"

;)
