F15 coding

Hi

Has anyone tried to code an F15 yet using E-Sys? There is a thread in the coding forum reporting possible difficulties in doing this (Ethernet issues), but thought worth posting in here also in case anyone else has tried and can feed back results.

Thanks

Sorry to intrude on this thread but a quick question for all the coding members, I've seen some photos online of the X5 with different color ambient interior lights, I know that default is red blue and white I think but I've seen one with like a green and yellowish light can this be done via coding of the led strips or is that just a different color option bmw has for maybe european or other countries bound vehicles? Thanks

Those are custom. You can take out the leds from the panels and change them yourself. Just requires work. It's not codeable. They just replace the places for each light - so white they prolly left alone, yellow they changed for the amber, green they changed for the blue.

Well, I have a 2004 E60 525i (Jan 2004 production) and X5 F15 I just got. I need to do a coding on E60 right now which is said to be easy (specifically to enable the aux input on the radio unit). I also like to learn coding F15 a few months down the road.

Did some quick research. It appears there are different cables and software used for coding E60 alone.

My question is whether any of you guys know the cable(s) used for X5 F15 coding can be used to code E60? And whether one of F15 coding software can be used to code E60? Trying to save not only money on cables, but also minimize the learning curve if I can leverage as much between the two cars' setup.

If somebody has done E60 coding for a 2004 production date, pls PM me. There are so many different cables/software versions over time to choose from.

Thanks!

Different cable needed called D-can cable and different software called NCS expert. Shawnsheridan has the most knowledge on this stuff. Here's a good place to start:http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e6...m5-touring-discussion/244353-coding-your-m5.html#/forumsite/20552/topics/244353

The only thing I would like to get coded on my new F15 with the LED light package is the non-glare function for the high beam assistant. I live in the Bay Area in CA, is there anyone around here who may be able to help me? I know NOTHING about coding but I've read some of the threads with interest and this is something I would really like to have. BTW, my F15 is just being built.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the Ant-Glare coding does not work in the US. You have to buy the Euro Headlights/wiring for this to even have any chance of working. skalberti, Hang0ver, and myself have discussed in great detail on this coding and have taken a look at all files related to it from both US CAFD and Euro CAFD files.

However, Variable Light Distribution is codeable and works very well for the low beams. r33 is in CA, so he may be able to help you.

Has anybody found a way to have the BC speed display KMH instead of MPH, I do a lot of European driving and one of the problems is all the speeds are in KMH, I did used to have a Speed Cam device that displayed KMH so it was no problem but that has now gone to the good man in the sky and I cannot find a replacement that does the same.

Hello Guys,

I send my F15 to the dealer and it was programmed to 54.1 and after that when ever i put R then only the rear wiew camera is working. the all round camera is showing in the menu to click and have it active.

but before the programming when i use to put the R first all round camera is on and i can choose in the menu to active the rear view.

any one knows what coding must i charge in order to bring the old setting?

Thanks

You're out of luck. There's no coding to fix that. The reason for this is the software update by the dealer. It's been discussed quite a few times already. I wish there was an official update thread to show what features were added/removed with these updates, but BMW doesn't seem to release them. Not sure why.

I pick up my F15 tomorrow. I definitely want to have some coding done. I'm unsure whether to have someone do it or learn it myself. I'm computer coding illiterate! Anyone around the Dallas area code?

Buy an ENET cable from one of the links in my thread: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1033991 and I can teach you. That will be your only expense ($20). I will PM you the software.

That's the file you need. Drag and drop it to C:\Data\psdzdata\swe\cafd location. It will fix it.

For all future coding help, refer to my thread here: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1033991

I've got an X5d on order and haven't started messing around with coding yet, but I was wondering if it's possible to improve the performance of a car with 2VM (DDC + rear air suspension) by FA coding 2VM to 2VF (Adaptive M) and adding 2TB (sport auto transmission). I verified the hardware is the same between 2VM/2VF (diagram 31 10: "front suspension - strut front vdc/mounting parts", diagram 33 45: "rear axle suspension - strut rear vdc/control module" and diagram 33 50: "self leveling rear suspension - level device, air spring and ctrl unit") and my understanding is all models use the same ZF 8-speed transmission, so as far as I can tell it should be achievable through coding with the obvious exception of actually having wheel mounted paddle shifters. What do you guys think?

If it sounds good, any idea which modules I'll need to VO code after changing the FA? I know EGS will probably be in there for the transmission settings, but I'm not sure which other modules are affected to ensure a complete retrofit (ie making sure I get the menu option, sports+ is available, traction control settings are modified, etc...). I don't have the software yet (or the car, for that matter) so I can't play around to find these things out on my own, unfortunately.

EGS and BDC_Body. 2TB will work. I've coded it when changing my Sport steering wheel to my M-Sport Carbon Fiber steering wheel. That was only adding 2TB to your FA and VO Coding BDC_Body.

However, I have not seen anyone test such suspension coding changes. So, tread carefully and report back.

I sent you the software.

Thanks for the response! It'll be a few more weeks before the car gets here, but I'll report back once I give 2VM a shot. I may find after driving it a bit that upgrading to 2VF isn't necessary - the car is going to be my wife's daily driver, as well as our road tripper and boat hauler - so we'll see.

Just to confirm, after I've added 2TB to FA, then VO coding EGS will enable the sports transmission settings (faster shifts, more aggressive gear holding, launch control?) while VO coding BDC_Body will only make changes associated with activating paddle shifter functionality? If that's the case, can I get away with not VO coding BDC_Body afterwards so it stays stock (at least until a software update or anything else resets the module)?

I have no clue about EGS. I know what codes in EGS to change though that enable Sport Automatic Transmission and Launch Control in case VO Coding does not activate it. I'll check it for you though when the time comes. No need to worry over it right now.

I would PM shawnsheridan for further details on exactly what gets changed when VO Coding each with regards to 2TB and also with regards to the suspension swap (don't know if it's possible).

So an update to anyone that might be interested in changing 2VM Dynamic Damper Control to 2VF Adaptive M - I didn't end up trying it because I found the stiffer damping in Sport mode with just 2VM to be adequate, and while I'd probably appreciate changing over to Adaptive M, my wife actually prefers the softer Comfort setting of 2VM. If someone were to try 2VM to 2VF, ShawnSheridan suggested to try VO coding ICM, DSC, and the 4 RK modules (the Damper satellite (EDC) modules) and see if that works.

As far adding 2TB Sport Transmission is concerned, I haven't been able to confirm that it actually shifts faster than the standard transmission. I'm not interested in the other features that come with 2TB (launch control, disabling DSC automatically in Sport+, or retroffiting paddle shifters) so I'm holding off until I can confirm that shift speeds will actually improve before adding it to my FA.

Good luck to anyone trying either; hopefully they'll report back as well.

Hi can anyone tell me if coding can be done to stiffen or firm up steering, my x5d seems to wander between lines at cruising speeds, i think its too boosted, my other car is F01 msport much more stiffer firmer feel is it just me or does any one have this issue.
If coding can be done, is there anyone in Socal inland area that can help me do it. ??
