Heh. Whadyu mean "young bloods"? If I don't get to redline 2nd (and 3rd when I can get away with it*) I feel unfulfilled. Otherwise, yeah, around 4K.

*ya gotta admit there's an awesome thrill about hitting 80mph in 3rd (I *never*;)).

Hm, come to think of it, was I still this thrilled by my car after I owned my Civic DX for a year?

This is exactly why I'll never buys a used BMW :D:D

Hiya Eugie, ya "young blood at heart" ;) Have a good week-end!

Do you ever get the feeling that you're the only fast BMW driver in town? Every other bimmer I see is going < the speed limit!
Pulling our step chains again? I'll have you know, I fairly consistently shift between 3-3500 in second gear. Tend to take it a little easier in first, give it some juice in second and if conditions permit the same in higher gears. When aggressive I'll pull 4500-5500 or so, of course, this car's so smooth you'd never know. I think I've only redlined the car twice in the 9k miles I've driven it. And, as far as buying used Mr. Rip, I don't think the seller of my car ever had it over 65 mph. :D Gotta know the merchandise. :p

I only really look at my tach when driving aggressively and am in fear of actually redlining it. But during normal (lazy?) driving, I never look.

Sorry.
for puttin' around town, 4500-5000

for spirited driving, usually around 7000

:D :D :D :yikes: :D :D :D
I'm in the middle bracket at 3000-3500. Still going thru break-in, but I don't really find myself fighting the urge to push it any harder...yet. :D
When driving hard, 6200...
Putting around town, assuming it's flat, or downhill, I shift between 2000 and 2500. Going up hills, I shift at 3K, usually.

2k to 2.5k first and second, even lower in higher gears. Looks like I'm being even easier on my car than I thought!
3000-3500 usually. Doesn't feel right if I shift before that. I feel like I'm shortchanging the car by doing so.

It must be you that blew past me the other day doing 100mph!! :D :D J/K. I'm not in NY. =)
When not driving aggressively AND not being stuck behind an Old Guy In A Hat, 4500-5000 for 1-2, 4000ish for 2-3, 3000-3500 for 3-4. After that, it's heel and toeing back down for the next stoplight
I usually shift around 2500 rpm for 1-2 .. then 3000k+++ for the rest of the gears
