Form your own conclusions. This was from Road & Track.

Let the flame wars begin.

It also mentions that the styling of the rear is the most important part of the car....
That's probably a true statement...

(BTW, why'd you bail on our SMG discussion at the Org?)

These are Bangle's own words.

They raised the roof for a larger interior, so they 'had to' (Donkydonk's and Bangle's own statement - not my interpretation) raise the trunk.

So in order to avoid a bulky rear and funny-looking passenger room (like Queen's aquarium Jaguars or Daimlers) they have tried to use some strange lines and curves. Finally they have messed it up totally.

Wait, I'm diggin up some Cw values of previous and current models of Daimler and Audi. I'll post them later.

Cw? Don't you mean Cd? or drag coefficient?

Remember, increasing downforce also increases drag. The 360 Modena has something like .36 Cd. I am almost certain that the E65 has more drag than the S class.

yes, Cd that is, my bad. (Cw is the german word for it)

Yes, but it could also have been achieved with a better looking trunk, no ?

For this discussion, Cl (Coefficient of Lift) is probably more important.

BTW, that page was in conjunction about an article on aerodynamics, with discussions about F1, etc. It looks at the E65's styling strictly from an aero perspective, and makes little comment on its aesthetic values.

FWIW, R&T generally has the same stylistic feelings about the E65 as most of the rest of the auto press. i.e. :thumbdwn:
