I had been using mdecoder.com to check the build sheet options on several X5’s I was looking at. Up until a couple of weeks ago, it was free to use. Now the site has changed to a pay site (e.g., allows 5 VIN checks for 5 Euros).
Is there a site that is free and shows the build sheet specs for BMW’s??

I’ve used this site before. It produces an error message saying the VIN is incorrect. Can’t be - I’ve used a VIN that I have used before as a test #.

That's strange. It works for me. Try using my VIN: WBAVM5C50EVV92411. If that works for you, then you know the issue is with your VIN (maybe a model year that isn't in their DB)? If my VIN doesn't work for you, then maybe you're clicking on one of the ads (?).

That is really strange!! Your VIN # does work!! Do you know if the DB includes ‘17 models, or is that too new to look up??

mdecoder.com was the best one that was free. Now it’s a pay site. Cannot find another site.

I tried to use it for the first time. It said I reached my daily limit and wanted me to go to the Professional Decoder, which is not free.

Many decoders show false information. I often do VIN check at free services, but in my experience, free apps may not help you buy a used car. Firstly, the content of the reports they produce is rather weak, and secondly, the information they contain does not always correspond to reality.
