Hi,
I have a '17 F25 X3 that no longer has a subscription for ConnectDrive apps, RTTI, maps, etc. I went to update my maps and I received a message "Connect USB device with correct activation code". For some reason I thought a manual map update was ok, I guess not.
I have a NBT EVO ID5 and after some research I came across HUTool. Now my understanding is that it "patches" (aka installs some SW to bypass the FSC check) the headunit so that the FSC codes generated from this tool can work. I came across this post here that outlines the process.
My questions are as follows?

My questions are as follows?
- Should I back up any existing FSC codes?
- Does the full FSC set of codes enable the apps, etc.?
- If I wanted to buy BMWs subscriptions in the future, do I need to re-flash the HU?
- Any pros/cons about using this tool or any risks? Should I just buy a FSC code for carplay and maps?
