FSU or climate control unit
My 2002 E53 climate control unit is dead and the fan keeps blowing when the car is off. Can that be because of bad FSU / FSR or should I get myself ready to shell out $600 for a new control unit? Is there a way to check that before I buy the parts?

Sound like two problems the way you describe it:
1. Dead control unit.
2. Defective FSR that keeps the fan blowing after you switch off.
I would change out the FSR first and see if the fan switches off when it should then move on to the control unit. (Always eliminate the cheapest suspect part first).
