Fuel Gauge 523i Erratic Year 00

My fuel Gauge seems erratic every so often with the needle jumping forward and back. This recently happened after a jump start, not sure if it is related, light to refill comes on and goes off every so often. I ran out of petrol recently when it was showing quarter full.

I think my ABS module on my 523i year 00 is in need of repair, could this be causing this problem?

If your speedometer is not working, and your ABS lights are on all the time, then yes the fuel gauge issue is related.
