Thanks TD, I was looking for a pic like that. You saved me the work.
Its not THAT bad in and of itself. But the fact that the front is a TT with kidney grilles with a Mazda trunk and half of RSX taillights is rather poor. :thumbdwn:
Not much new there. Looks like the front quarter panels still have camo to me. Anyone else?:dunno:
I like the style 44 wheels :D

Unlike you guys, I'll withhold judgment until judgment day. It kind of reminds of of the cartoon car featured in the Mobil oil commercials in the 1950s (I saw them in Life magazine).

I don't mind the side profile. I don't like the front and I don't think I will even when I see it in person. The back would have been fine if the stupid kink was subdued. :thumbdwn:

Ditto. When was the last time you saw a disguised prototype that looked really good?

We've all already seen it. Remember the X-Coupe. This is it in roadster form.

TD - Do you think they would keep all of those angles in the production model? IMHO, those angles are killing the car. That and the rear end, the side profile, the taillights . . . :thumbdwn: The wheel wells look shaved!

Compare the X-Coupe pics I posted with the Z4 pics linked at Roadfly. You'll see that those pics are of a disguised roadster version of the X-Coupe and that many of those lines ARE there. Of course, I stated my opinion of those lines in my post at the top of the thread.

If the Z4 really is the X-Coupe then I'll be barfing right along with you.

Doing a side by side comparison of the pics (which I just did), they are not exactly the same, but the Z4 looks without question like a production version of the X-Coupe. All of the same elements are there, although, in executiion, a few details have changed. Look at the trunk, for example. The Z4's trunk isn't as tall as the X-Coupe's, but the taillights and overall theme is the same. And at the front, implied cut lines on the X-Coupe (from the top of the headlights) are actual body panel seams on the Z4. And the sculpting on the sides isn't quite as extreme on the Z4, but it's still the same design.
the x coupe is cool...

yea its cool if ur trying to leave the planet or make ur way over to mars...it looks like a fuken space shuttle...are they coming out with that shit????
TD, serious question here: Is there ANYTHING that BMW makes, besides ANY 4 door M3, that you like?

? Jon, what are you, 16 years old?

No, the X-Coupe is only a "design exercise", something BMW head of design Chris Bangle uses to push our gag reflexes to new designs out further so he can introduce more controversial models like the Z4 and 7 series without much opposition.
