Good news, bad news

My dealer called yesterday and said my car arrived at port on 6/17. That's the good news. According to the BMW 800# my car doesn't arrive until 6/20. Who do I believe? I know it's only a couple days difference, but after almost 4 months every day counts.

I tended to lean towards BMWNA when it got down that close, but if your dealership has a more optimistic number I'm sure you won't have a problem believing that either. ;)

Either way it'll be here soon, so sit tight! Did you get your delivery checklist together and your car/key memory sheet in to your sales person?

I always thought that BMWNA was behind the 8 ball !?!?

I would beleive the dealer !!
Call the shipping company, thats what I did. Well, actually I checked their website.

I never trusted my salesman. But thats just me.
dear god, trust the dealer...BMW didnt have a clue where my car was..called the shipping company and my car didnt exist... my VIN or nothing showed NOTHING, then my dealer called and said..its here??????? go figure... :)

Go one step further and call the General Manager of the port it's supposed to arrive in. That's what I did, and found out that it was already on a truck headed the hour south to my dealer that day.

I immediately called my salesman and told him my car was on the way and that I would be in at 5pm to pick it up, so it better be ready. :D

Otherwise, it would have been unloaded, moved to the back of the lot for prepping, and I wouldn't have received a call that it had "arrived" for at least another day or two.
Thanks guys for the advice. Unfortunately my car was shipped Mitsui OSK and they don't seem to have a cargo tracking system like Wallenius. I'm not sure what port the car came to. By the way, what's this car/key memory thing I should give to my salesman?

Its the setting for the remote entry. You can have it set so then pushing the unlock button will unlock all doors or just the driver door. Stuff like that. You can ask your salesman to fax you a copy. My salesman didnt even bother to ask what my preferences were.

Either BMW or your dealer should be able to tell you what port your car is at. If you're anywhere west of the Mississippi it came over here to Port Hueneme.

If you're in the Southeast I think it goes to Charleston. In the Northeast, someplace else up the coast.

If you're not in the States then, who knows where the bloody hell your car is! :lmao:

I'll attest to that fact :banghead: :banghead:

It's at port. No, it's still on the water. Oh, wait - it was unloaded a few days ago. Oops, still on the water. No, it's waiting for the train.

I'm hoping it's been loaded on the train, but I'm not holding my breath

Check here for details key memory info from bmwnation
I would believe the dealer. BMWNA told me the car went through the VPC and is awaiting transport to the dealer, so they said to expect the car to arrive at the dealers in a couple of days. That same day, I spoke to my dealer, and he said the car had arrived.
