Haus, Rip or any other Griot heads

I'm soon to place my second order from Griot's:eeps: Gallon of Speed Shine is only definate at this time, but I was wondering how their car wash compares to the Sonax I'm currently using:dunno: Liking of giving it a try.

I have their swabs, cotton towels, window cleaning kit and 3 finger sponges already. Going for Meguiar's tire treatment based on some other's suggestions. Any holes in my supplies that Griot could help fill?

I Blitz'ed in mid March so I'm thinking of skipping paint cleaner and caly for a while, unless strong opinion from you all (or if I hook up with Mike's sister or Al for a little help ).

To be honest, I never paid much attention to car soaps, usually grabbing whatever was inexpensive on the Pep boys shelfs..

What I have observed with Griots is you need VERY LITTLE and it sudz up great, and holds it suds thru-out the wash.

The first time I visited Griots, an Asian man from Montreal was in town getting a factory tour of Griots, he owned his own detail business in Montreal and was kind enough to take a look at my car (along with a Griots techy) in regards to my concern of the Boars hair brush when I returned that product...anyway, he went thru a 15 min "proper washing" technique that I follow religiously, as silly as it sounds..this gentleman was very animate of his work and appreciation he is rewarded with via his customers.

His method was to use 1/2 the recommended soap on Griots product ( 1/2 oz per 2 gallons instead of 1 oz )..then filling the bucket 2/3 with hot water, without letting is sudz up(low water pressure). Allow the product to dissipate and totally dissolve for a few min. before turning on the hose outside and shooting cold water (carefully) to fill the bucket...the result is a beautiful head of sudz that will still be present as you finish your wheels off last.

He also covered proper technique (linear motions, one side of pad, flip other side of pad, then second rinse bucket) etc.

Thanks Rip:thumb: Since I'm ordering any way will give their stuff a shot and try the hot water technique (as soon as drought restrictions are removed). Unless I feel bold and take hot water along to the DIY stall:dunno:
Just don't forget that last 1/3 bucket full of cold water hose to fill it up, you don't want to wash your car with hot water..that'd be like washing it in the sun :tsk: :yikes:

not a bad idea, you get one of those home depot buckets with a lid, fill it 2/3's up with hot water, slap some car soap in there, put the lid on tight (maybe a couple bungees to make sure it stays on) and head to the car wash, use their rinse cycle only

Got it:thumb: One of the only positive things about my forced use of DIY stall is total shade.
I like Griots wash and buy it in the gallon size but I have to agree that soap is soap. I also have some Meguiars wash on the shelf.
