Hello do any of you know what model this sensor housing/tube come from :dunno:

E36 1996
M52B20TU

my brother came home today with heating problems. their are mounted a sort of housing at the top of the radiator tube ... betwen the rubber hose from radiator to waterpump .(that cracked) but this is not from this model for sure :confused: normally these sensors shuold be in the radiator. and sure enough their are a Bolt where that should be.... ever seen this ?

it was mounted where the metal tube is now on the second picture

I got no clue on the severely corroded housing, but that sensor looks like a combination coolant temperature/engine temperature sensor from an E30. Half feeds the ECU information on the coolant temperature for fuel/air ratio adjustment according to how hot/cold the engine is, and the other half drives the dashboard temperature gauge. The two do NOT interact.

so i found out that the housing is from a E39 when you after install a A/C compressor system :thumbup:
