This one has me confused. I have never had an issue setting up text messaging on my car/ phone. I'm getting a message saying that my bluetooth device is not set up for text messaging. I did see texts that have been sent to me though. What do I need to change on either the phone or the car? I'm very frustrated here.

I would suggest using CarPlay for your messaging. I was using iDrive for texting before CarPlay but when they removed the option for calling Siri with a long button push it made texting a pain. There was talk that they were going to remove non-CarPlay texting all together, perhaps they have.

Thanks, but how do I set it up? Right now if I tell the car to send a text message it tells me that bluetooth is not set up for it. In my previous car all I did was a long push on the microphone. Is that all I need to do? If so I'm going to feel pretty stupid that I didn't try the longer push.

You will be able to call Siri with a long button push once CarPlay is set up. The first thing you should do is go under devices in Com and remove your phone and make sure the Bluetooth connection is removed from the phone also. This way you know you are starting off clean. Then go back in and pair your phone but when it gives you the option of just using Bluetooth or CarPlay choose that and it should set everything up, just answer yes/ok to all the prompts.
