Anybody available in the SoCal area willing to assist me getting INPA running on my laptop this weekend? I have it all installed and seemingly configured but the 2 bubbles do not turn black. I will gladly pay for your time.

Thanks,
Frank

I'm not in Cali; but which cable are you using and what port is it set up to? When you set up INPA you select what port you are going to use. If your USB cable is not setup to the port you chose during setup you will not see the Battery or Ignition bubbles turn black because it does not know where to look for communication.

I am using this cable from ebay, "Diagnostic Tool USB OBD2 OBDII Interface Cable Car Scanner K+DCAN for BMW INPA". Same type my buddy is using with his laptop that I have used but he has taken hsi back.
I am connecting to the USB port I used during setup as well. I can always try another port just in case though.

Thanks for you reply.

I should be more specific. It wont matter which USB port you use. When you plug the adapter in which COM port is the adapter set to? When you installed INPA you would have had to choose one. For example....I used COM port 1 during install. After install I made sure my USB K-Can cable was set to com 1 as well. They need to match. When I am not at work I can walk you through it. There is a .ini file that will say which com port you chose during installation. Once we know that we can then look at the cable itself and set the port accordingly.

Oh yea, got ya. I set to COM 1 just like the instructions mentioned. I'm at work and the laptop is at home. What .ini file should I check to verify?

:dunno: Didn't another member recommend you find a local guy with INPA or DIS/GT1 etc? Trying to keep on topic here to help the OP. If you get the tools to do it I can tell you how.

I work in I.T. and went over the set twice and still not able to get it going. So much time consumed. Maybe it's the 64 bit although I believe I have the 64 bit version. Maybe it's the VMWARE or maybe just need another install procedure like above. My project for the weekend now.
