Hi guys, had the mass air flow unplugged for a while as having it plugged in results in really bad chugging till engine gets hot. Finally got a new one (200 quid) and put it on, plugged it in and engine is chugging like the old one. But unplugging it makes the engine run smooth. Had glow plugs changed, had glow plug control module changed as originally thought that was causing then chugging. Now at a complete loss ??? Can anyone help? Car is e90 330D 245ps

Check Engine Light.

The yellow coloured light that looks like a weird fire hydrant.
This little exchange gave me a chuckle when I noticed all participants are outside the USA. Some American government agency or another deemed its citizens too stupid to interpret that symbol, so our CEL (a/k/a MIL: Malfunction Indicator Lamp) looks exactly like the words SERVICE ENGINE SOON. :p

In yellow, of course.

  Actually, I WISH the lamp was simply the words "Service Engine Soon". I find the symbol kind of stupid, and while it kind of looks like an engine, I feel the words would simply have been easier and better.
