Hey guys. I just recently bought a 98 bmw 528i which is my first bmw so im fairly new to the crew and i was having a little problem. Every time im on the highway, when i hit 60 mph my car starts to putt and will not go any faster. It feels like the car is cutting out but it isn't. Anyway, when i put the car to 3rd gear it does the same thing when trying to accelerate past 60mph. I put it back into drive and feel a shift that fixes the problem. Anyone know exactly whats going on. I have a feeling it might be a sensor or something but like i said im new to bimmers so im not sure. Btw the previous owner said they just had the transmission replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to be asked for codes by anybody that knows their stuff, so might as well start there.

+1 to codes. You will need a BMW specific scanner or take it to a reputable Indy or dealer. (But the scanner will pay for itself so recommend that route).
And...
Any service history? What is the mileage? You may consider a transmission fluid cycle and filter.
