New computer enhanced photos (based on the material supplied by BMW Design Department) are shown in the latest issue of the Auto Motor & Sport.

And, hey TD, I think they're hearing you over at München. The dimensions remaining the same with the current, but the new one is going through a diet. According to the magazine the car will be lighter than the current model.

One of the pictures. (I'll scan a few more later). Oh the small one is the coming 1 series.

Bangle Butt Toned Down!

Hey -- it looks like they butt's been toned down quite a bit on... Do you think all the negative reviews of the 7 are having an impact?

Unfortunately now the beltline looks like something Peugot would do...

Considering how much worse it *could* look, I'm actually pleasantly surprised. No rant on this one. It even moderately resembles a BMW (although the headlight treatment also strongly resembles current Acuras).

Not distinctive, not enough BMW-ness, just too damn ordinary. But far from the atrocity that the E65 is. Maybe I'm just so numb now that this looks good in comparison.

The "diet" part sounds promising too.

Absolutely. According to the magazine, BMW can't allow itself another 'adventureous' start like the E65.

And the AG will decide the design of the next 3-Series this year, which, again acc. to the magazine, will be the most important of all. BTW, the production of the 3-Series Limousine starts in 2005. That means coupe will come in 2006.

I agree. Actually looks pretty good to me...maybe because I was expecting so much worse. I just hope this is more like the real production version, unlike some of the previous spy pics and computer-generated versions.

That looks kinda nice. The rear looks LOTS better than the new 7 that's for sure. But the kidneys in front need to be a litte smaller. Looks kind of like a pontiac...

But all in all, I think the new 5er looks WAY better than the 7.

Looks too good to be a real BMW design. I guess my expectations are so low now that anything can look good next to the 7. I just have a feeling that the real 5 will be much uglier in person-- Bangle wouldn't have it any other way. The green 1 series in the pic is just ugly enough to be real possibility though...

I don't think the truck looks all that different than the 7. However, the rest of the lines make it look A LOT BETTER! I was worried that the rest of the line would follow the 7 (I probably would have still bought, just wouldn't have do so as easily). But if the new 5 looks like this I'm a happy camper!:thumb:

That could actually work. They need to decide whether it's supposed to be sleek, or chunky, though. It looks a bit like a boat right now. *shrug* I could live with that if it came out close, though.
