Hey guys! I'm new to Bimmerfest and I am having some serious stone wall issues with my BMW. I have a mid 90's 535i with a 4.0L v8 swap from a 740 or 540i. This car has been a nightmare for me because of all the drama that came with me getting it but it has this overheating issue. My mechanic said he thinks it may be a blown head gasket and now I'm on the hunt for another v8. Does anyone have any ideas what I can swap in there at a budget?

i would love to. It's just finding one is a real pain. I've been looking everywhere and I thought maybe I could get some more information or maybe even find someone who may have something layin around. that... and i'm not a hundred percent sure of what exactly it is. My mechanic says it's a 4.0 liter v8 from a mid 90's 540 or 740. but every time i may have come across something everyone is always confused and asking if i mean a 4.4 liter. I'm also looking for a manual as well. which from what i've heard is pretty rare.

Have you looked up the PN on RealOEM.com to see what models that motor is shared with?

realoem.com? i haven't looked on that site yet. Thanks a bunch Tim! I know my engine block is a long block, and from what I've heard and read up on, most long blocks will fit most motors won't it?

Long block is just a term - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_block

Look on RealOEM for the engine part number and then cross compare.
