Hi I am bought to buy a new car, I was about to go with a c300 (2008) but then I feel like the 07 x5 offers more bang for the buck what I was wondering how costly is maintenance for the X5 especially high mileage
(Ex:170,000 km) and if you have the expertise how it fairs as a daily compared to the C300 ( 100,000 km, ballpark of course) thanks

170 megometers is FAR from high mileage!

High mileage would be more like 700 megometers.

OP- what motor are you looking at??

WHile 100k or 170k are 'getting up there', it isnt super high mileage. Depending on which motor you may have a higher risk of various oil leaks....

The prblem of course is that while one can talk about ALL x5s as a groupo, you are only buying ONE- what will the future of that ONE example show? Impossible. We try to know the maintenance history of the car, did it have work done before, was it well cared for, was it abused- so hard to really know.

I just traded in my 2003 x5 with 268000 miles for a 2011 535i. It still ran very well and repairs were mostly normal wear and tear. I did my own repairs so cost wasn't an issue. I bought it new so I didn't have to worry about abuse from previous owners.
