I find the AC to severely drain the cars power, particularly at the low end. I also notice that it is less resonsive, and looses smoothness. Also, that loud rpm driven fan seems to be on most of the time when AC is on. I try to minimise AC use for these reasons, Is this normal??

Thanks in advance.

Essentially none.

Not enough that my ass-dyno notices.

This is a nice change, as the AC on my old car was called the 'anti-turbo' since it sucked SO MUCH power.

I notice a huge difference IF it is also hot and humid outside. Otherwise, it's not that bad. Above 90 degrees, the A/C just kills my engine.

I would second this, especially when accelerating hard off the line. In moderate use, not a real noticeable problem.

What I notice is that the revs drop between shifts much faster...I don't notice a very big power drop though.

Funny I don't notice that:dunno: ......that's right my rev limiter takes care of that stuff for me:D

That would make sense though, at idle, I notice that the RPMs lower when AC is turned on:)

Funny. I notice MORE rev hang with the A/C on.

I only feel a slight loss unless it's very hot outside, and in cases like that I tend to think the air temperature has more to do with my power loss than the actual A/C.

Try turning it off when it's really hot outside. It was 85 and humid outside on Friday, and I was having trouble shifting smoothly until I turned it off. There was a DRAMATIC change in the way the car behaved. With A/C on, the car bogged and didn't want to go. With it off, it revved freely and pulled nicely, though not as well as in 50 degree weather.

Makes very little difference. There is a loss, but it's nothing like my other cars which feel like they lose about 20 hp at a push of a button.

My car definitely felt a lot slower with all those M68s inside. I bet a wimpy 2.5L engine like yours would barely move! :D

You'd be surprised at how much I've had in my car. :) Besides, I bet you couldn't tell the difference if I swapped engines, anyhow. With your pansy transmission and slow driving habits, you'd never notice. :D :lmao: :D And I could fit all ELEVEN of your M68s into my car without cheating and putting four outside and one in the spare well. :D

30.8MPG! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: You must not ever see stop signs. :p
