All,

How big (in inches) is the dead spot of your steering on your E46? In other words, how much (to the left and to the right combined) can you move the steering wheel without feeling any resistance and without affecting the car's direction?

On my 330i, it seems like the dead spot is a little too big.

Mine has a little . . . I have a 6/00 production 330Ci

Your going to find a lot of the people above with either have a 2002 (has no dead spot) or they have a 323/328 which had the old steering.

What production date do you have ?

My production date is 4/2001 and while I did have the retrofit done on my car, my steering is still not heavy in the center area (very little resistance) and it has a dead spot of about 1 inch at all speeds.

I have a dead spot about that size myself.

I intend to not worry about it for the next two thousand miles, until my current tires wear out. Then I'll toss out ContiTouringCraptacs and put decent tires on and do a full alignment.
