Well, you can stop it from dipping down in reverse by just sliding the mirror adjustment button on the armrest to the drivers side. Other than that, there's no adjustment that I know of. It's on or off.

 

Well that sucks. I prefer if the mirror goes half way down. Not all the way down.

It does, had mine coded along with many other things

 

Coding to get a mid way adjustment would be best. Otherwise, it either dips way down, or not at all.

I’ve gotten used to it and now use a combo of mirrors and back up camera. I start by using the passenger side mirror to get my bearings, then use backup camera while the mirror is dipping down and driver side mirror to maintain course- Once I’m close enough to the space I’m backing into to pick up the passenger side margin, I find that having the mirror dipped way down works well. Works great for parallel parking to, though I find the guidelines on the backup camera to have the biggest impact on achieving a buttery parallel park. I almost always back into spaces since I prefer forward visibility when leaving a parking spot.

The OP is looking for a way to not to have it dip down so much, not turn off the feature.

 

I brought this issue up to the "Genius" at my dealer and they had no clue. It's my understanding that coding can have some (minimal) effect.

It's annoying.

 

The idea is to be able to view the curb when the mirror drops while parking. For me, I could have the mirror even drop a bit more, but mostly, it works perfectly for viewing the curb.

 

Mine drops so far it shows the curb directly next to the car and I just see the front of the rear tire. I have two other BMWs that don't drop nearly that much and they're much better for parking as I can see behind the rear wheel.

Coding - The degree of down-dipping can be adjusted. The degree of adjustment could be answered by one of the coding gurus who are active on the forum!

Hi Almaretto, I couldn't do that. As soon as I move mirror selector to passenger position, it flips all the way up. Resetting into normal position.

 

If you don***8217;t have two drivers you could set one of your memory buttons with the mirror set wherever you want it.
