Winter is against my religion.

I don't put my cars away, but Florida doesn't really have winter either...

True - your frost warning days are like our typical summer day!

KevinR, I change my oil on my Z cars every 5K miles. But you bring up an interesting point. I have a few MGs that I never put much mileage on, so, like you, on those cars I change the oil once a year, in the spring. Someone suggested that when you do only an annual oil change, it should be done at the END of the season in late fall. Reasoning? When you do it this way the car does not sit for several months with the older ACIDIC oil contaminating the engine parts. I wonder if there is any logic to this? Thoughts?
It is the products of combustion that lead to contaminants in the oil. Some of these contaminants have been known to attack the soft alloys used in the bearing shells and some types of bushes.

It is for this reason that I recommend, annual or otherwise, changing the oil prior to prolonged storage.
