I***8217;m in the market for a used M2 with a stick and after reading a lot of articles I want a 2018. I assumed all 2018 models were LCI***8217;s but someone was telling me that the early 2018 models were regular M2***8217;s.
Is there a way I can determine if a car that I am searching for, that may be hundreds of miles away is a LCI? Are the serial numbers coded or is there a marking on the car?
Also, is there a way I can find how many 2018 Long Beach Blue with a stick and sunroofs were built for the U.S.?

Any M2 that is model-year 2018 is an LCI.

The 2018 model-year changed around how the options package (the Exec package, since in the US that is the only real "package" for an M2) worked compared to 2016/17.

The tail lights, headlights, and gauge cluster are all different on a 2018, but theoretically any of those parts could be swapped into a pre-LCI as well. The 2018 will have a touch-enabled iDrive screen too. The other big thing is that all 2018s will have a backup camera, regardless of packages.
