Hi guys,
I need some help.
I recently got an M135i and I would like to do a software update as the newer M135i's have the M135i in the Kombi display on the bottom right whilst driving. One guy has done the upgrade on http://www.1erforum.de/ and he has updated from 2.49.8 to 2.50.4 the advantages of the upgrade: - Sailing activated immediately - new graphics in the advanced Inst display at EcoPro mode - M135i activated under the tachometer - time setting in iDrive automatically.

I have esys 3.22.5 with 50.4 Psdz files

If someone could send me the file and explain to me how to do the update I would be very grateful.
Many Thanks in advance

Elliott

Well, you have a strange build. I have never head of a car with 6VC Combox, and not 6FL USB Port.

So, your only option is to flash Combox.

Sorry shawn, was referring to getting the M135i logo that stays on in bottom right corner on extended display on kombi like the post 07 2013 models have. I only have the "M performance" in centre of kombi.

And you have 6WA Kombi Option?

Correct 6WA instrument cluster with extended display

I'm not sure. Maybe your Kombi needs updated Firmware.

Hi l.. I have a question (again :)) How long does it usually take to do a flash on individual control units? the latest integration on my car is F20-17-07-507 and the original shipment was F20-13-11-502.

Firstly I used the F20-17-07-507 to do the KIS/SVT Target rather than the shipment (was this right or wrong?)

I Flashed my DME, DSC, EGS, EPS, on F30 using psdzdata F20-18-03-520 with just the blFlash, swDeploy, cdDeploy, and ibaDeploy checked on the ECU's.

When I clicked the start tab the TAL execution took literally 1second is this right? :dunno: or have I missed something out of the process somewhere and its not done the updates as intended hence the time it took to flash??

Flash times vary based on the eCU and how old its current firmware is.

When you flash, you must set I-Step Shipment not I-Step Current.

I-Step Current is F20-17-07-507, which is not old. Why are you flashing it with F20-18-03-520 which is barely newer and may not contain no or few updates?

I have a 2012 F20, and retrofitted an NBT_EVO.
Today tried to flash my KOMBI with the steps above shared by shawn, but it failed after 3-4 mins. Now everything is working fine, but the idrive controller does not response any command. Only it's lights are up. I tried with other controller and it is working fine also. Anyone can help with this?

By the way, I can't Code or CodeFDL the controller. I tried flashing it but no way..

Were you flashing only Head Unit and KOMBI, no other ECU?

Are both ECU's factory fitted or retrofitted?

A "7amp charger" is nowhere near enough current. Ideally, you need a 50+ Amp Continuous Charger.

#100 ·
That should not be an issue. KOMBI is all Red, as if car has no KOMBI now. Factory Fitted ECU's, with correct I-Step Shipment and original unmodified FA should look as your IHKA2 and KAFAS2 do.

#102 ·
Not sure from here. Your pictures did not show the head unit, so I have no idea what it looks like. When you Read ECU, does Kombi and Head Unit appear in ECU List?

#104 ·
yes both are in the list see the head unit below.
Head Unit looks fine. But this is in Tal Calculating. When you just do a Read ECU, what does it show for BKombi, Kombi, or DKombi?

#106 ·
here is kombi below
Looks fine. Not sure where it all went wrong, but you need to do it all over, Read ECU and Calculate svt_soll, and see what KOMBI and Head Unit look like. HWEL must be Black, not Red Blue. If they are not, something is wrong with I-Step Shipment used, or FA.

#108 ·
If same head Unit hardware, install in car, VO Code it, and wipe Donor FSC codes and load original car VIN matching FSC Codes.

Shawns
please tell me.

in esys option
"Update MSN after TAL execution"
"Update VCM after TAL execution"
It is written in various places when you uncheck the
What is your reason for removing it?
What will happen if you check it?

Should I check it when updating all ECUs by software update?

#112 ·
No. Leave unchecked. It is best to manually update these things, when you have a known good reason for doing so.

#114 ·
If you modify FA for whatever reason, and VO Code an ECU, you do not necssarly want that modified FA automatically written to car where it will then become the default FA used for VO Coding all ECU. You should manually control any FA Changes written to car and be damn sure of when it's happening and why it's happening.

I have added RDC to my vehicle.
It's a used unit.
Add RDC to FA
I thought it would be better to rewrite the inside of the ECU by updating the software. (probably because the ECU also contains the VIN information)

In case of additional ECU
Is it possible to rewrite ECU internal information only by changing the VCM istep of ESYS?
Doesn't it need to be rewritten?
No. You need to flash RDC ECU.
