So, your only option is to flash Combox.

Hey Shawn , just to pick this thread up, I have done everything in the thread to update FA and change build date, I also have the options in Kombi to change to other logo's but still doesn't work for me. It only changes the M performance logo in centre.

 

What is it you are trying to change?

 

Sorry shawn, was referring to getting the M135i logo that stays on in bottom right corner on extended display on kombi like the post 07 2013 models have. I only have the "M performance" in centre of kombi.

I will try today to update the kombi module with esys. I won't use a charger, so hope everything will be fine. After coding i hope that BC_MOTORTEMP_ENABLE will finally work..

 

Just to say that I have a 2016 F30 and have updated the kombi (6WA) to the latest I-Step and I can activate it but does not update and always shows the temp in the white. As in red on the left fading to white fading to blue.

Could be a hardware limitation maybe?

Flash times vary based on the eCU and how old its current firmware is.

When you flash, you must set I-Step Shipment not I-Step Current.

I-Step Current is F20-17-07-507, which is not old. Why are you flashing it with F20-18-03-520 which is barely newer and may not contain no or few updates?

 

I have a 2012 F20, and retrofitted an NBT_EVO.
Today tried to flash my KOMBI with the steps above shared by shawn, but it failed after 3-4 mins. Now everything is working fine, but the idrive controller does not response any command. Only it's lights are up. I tried with other controller and it is working fine also. Anyone can help with this?

By the way, I can't Code or CodeFDL the controller. I tried flashing it but no way..

 

Hi @shawnsheridan I tried to update my headunit(kombi) following all steps including the 7amp charger etc and now i have 7 permanent codes and the update failed... My car is a 2014 X5 so I used the F25 option in esys. Below are the errors I got is there a way to fix this now? Im using esys 3.33.0 and psdz 4.37.42

Were you flashing only Head Unit and KOMBI, no other ECU?

Are both ECU's factory fitted or retrofitted?

A "7amp charger" is nowhere near enough current. Ideally, you need a 50+ Amp Continuous Charger.

 

correct i only checked KOMBI no other ecu.
both ECU everything is factory.

And in svt_soll, is KOMBI HWEL Black, not Red / Blue?

The head unit or kombi not was updated.

I think that you are doing incorrect process for tal calculation. Or not are updating necesary modules for update kombi and head unit.

yes the i-step shipment is correct. sorry im new dont know by what FA original means. As far as i know the only coding done to the car previously was map update and satellite radio was coded in. It had the hardware for sat radio but it had to be coded in so i can use it. Thats it.

 

That should not be an issue. KOMBI is all Red, as if car has no KOMBI now. Factory Fitted ECU's, with correct I-Step Shipment and original unmodified FA should look as your IHKA2 and KAFAS2 do.

 

Whats my next step what do u suggest, new headunit? I checked the i-step shipment also by going into Expert>VCM master at bottom and read in the I-Steps section

Head Unit looks fine. But this is in Tal Calculating. When you just do a Read ECU, what does it show for BKombi, Kombi, or DKombi?

Looks fine. Not sure where it all went wrong, but you need to do it all over, Read ECU and Calculate svt_soll, and see what KOMBI and Head Unit look like. HWEL must be Black, not Red Blue. If they are not, something is wrong with I-Step Shipment used, or FA.

If same head Unit hardware, install in car, VO Code it, and wipe Donor FSC codes and load original car VIN matching FSC Codes.

If you modify FA for whatever reason, and VO Code an ECU, you do not necssarly want that modified FA automatically written to car where it will then become the default FA used for VO Coding all ECU. You should manually control any FA Changes written to car and be damn sure of when it's happening and why it's happening.
