Why do you think it needs to be cleaned? Many have found that it's a waste of time, including YT.

I cleaned mine, but, as stated above, it wasn't dirty in the first place.

As for the technique, the OP isn't the first to ask, so, typing /maf f3 in the bestlinks should bring up plenty of background material ...
- MAF resistance testing (1) & a DIY for replacing your MAF (1) (2) (3) & cleaning your mass air flow sensor (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) and how 'not' to clean your MAF (1) & buying a replacement MAF cheaper than the BMW MAF (RangeRover MAF) (VW MAF) (Hyundai MAF)

well mine was dark and stained just like the guy at Advance auto said so.... It wasnt as dirty as the throttle body and plate, but still pretty dirty,, On a better note, it did clean up nicely, but i do believe it is what gave me the 1770 code for the transmission....
