With respect; anything you do to boost HP also lowers the value of your car to the next buyer. The best way to gain serious HP without taking a big hit would be simply flipping your car for a 335i. The best way for most drivers to become faster is to participate in an organized performance driving course. If you really want to give your current car serious snap without drastically lowering reliability and shortening engine life, change the rear end ratio. Ex-pen-sive, but a significant power increase by any means will not be cheap.

Dude! Forget it - not much there for the already very developed N52. Put money into your suspension - big big gains there; you'll be much happier.

Google Calwaterboy's Excellent New Year for what I did, which is more or less everything there is to do. Can do piecemeal - most do. Cheap date, but good date, is Koni FSD's using stock sport springs. LSD an outstanding improvement; replace rear subframe bushings while doing that.

ESS has been talking about releasing a supercharger for the N52. I don't know when or if that is actually going to happen.

They keep pushing the deadline back...

Do M3 suspension arms and bushings. A great and very noticeable improvement in handling.

that will give you much of a gain.
Burger Motor Sport or ECS tuning sells a kit for
about 1700 bucks which includes a tune .
It will get you up to about 260 hp.
There are articles about this at the NA N52 link at the e90post subforum
which also discusses all the performance mods possible .

Conversion can be done for under $1200 with used parts.

N51 motors use the 3 stage manifold. I know many people who got their manifold from totaled N51 cars.

Also it's about 250crank HP. You just barely make 200whp.

Was trying to figure out the n51 3 stage.. all n51 have the 3 stage already? is it only a tune the n51 would then need?
