Where has TD been? :dunno:VinceTopasBlau3 said:Even TD told me that he would have jumped at that if he hadn't bought his E36/M3/4.
Wow, that's a car that's really been beat up on. It's a shame that people who own unique cars like that don't take better care of them.VinceTopasBlau3 said:that I am mentally sick.Yep, also right down to the bones, the tissues and eventually the bloodcells. Everything is tainted with the lust for Alpina. I am sure most of you are already very annoyed with my countless blabbering about Alpina. And til this day, I still find no way of owning a REAL Alpina. Sigh...
The one time that came close was someone selling a B3 3.0 touring in Georgia. That IS a REAL deal for $22,000 or so. But still, I wimped out. Even TD told me that he would have jumped at that if he hadn't bought his E36/M3/4.
So, here's another posting to annoy everyone. I have heard so much about someone driving a B10 Biturbo in FL, never knew if it does exist. And today, my doubts are over. Here are the pics from last year's AA Dyno day. This, my fellow BMW buddies, used to be the FASTEST sedan in the world.

A car like that that's been ridden hard and put away wet is more trouble than it's worth. Who knows how meticulous the owner was with maintenance? Or how carefully the grey-market certification was done? Parts are likely hard to come by and expensive, and my guess is you'd have to do a lot of work just to get it back into fighting trim.VinceTopasBlau3 said:Sigh...I was hoping no one points that out. Yep..that car seems pretty "battered". Sell it to ME!!! And you won't see me on the board for the next 5 years!
Yup. That was the first thought that crossed my mind after seeing that pic...JST said:

We corresponded a while back. He, of course, tried to persaude me to dumb my E46 325i for the Alpina B3 3.0 touring...and I wimped out...
Harrison drove him off the boards.nate328Ci said:

This place is fairly mature, it was the .org that had constant flaming. Why not just put hts on his ignore list and forget about it :dunno:The HACK said:

Last I spoke (email) to him he still lurks SOMETIMES but has sworn off both boards now because of the immature sh*t that goes on. I don't blame him...That really is TOO BAD. He's somewhat responsible for getting Bimmerfest.com off the ground so incredibly fast.
He will answer via e-mail. The roadfly e-mail address. I don't think he is going to be off forever. Once an addict, always an addict. The HACK said:

Alpina's do have something to be desired, and they have built some very unique cars with marvelous engineering. But one thing I learned recently is that it is extremely difficult to track the history of Alpina cars, especially in the US as there are no Alpina service centers. Even the serial numbers do not reveal enough about an Alpina cars' past; thus it is a very risky proposition to buy a used one.
Vince, in my opinion, the excitement of having an Alpina is actually ordering your very own from the factory. Your choice of colors, leather/alacantra, wheels, wood, spoilers, shock settings, etc. That would, no question, be an increadable experience.
I think you should just go ahead an do it. Of course, there is the issue of "import" as you know, but I think you can handle that through some importers (you can get that info internally from CCA). There is no question it will cost you, a B3 3.3 + US spec revisions + importing, but I don't think it would worth for anyone else but you. And you know what? you live only once buddy, go for it :thumb:
