The SL500 is a great car.
I steal my Mom's whenever I get the chance. Too bad about the slushbox, though.
geomax,Given a choice between the 2 cars, I wouldn't hesitate a second to take the SL over the 330. The SL's are simply gorgeous cars inside and out. Don't get my wrong - I love my BMW, but Benz's are far and away superior.
your wife is pretty hot...SteelGray02ci said:Another picture of the happy owner sitting out in front of our future house.
My wife thanks you...your wife is pretty hot...
If I had that much to spend on a car, I'd do one of two things: 1) get something with Porsche on the hood; 2) get an M3 or M5 and something else.geomax said:Lets all be honest here....

I've never been that impressed with Mercedes products. They always struck me as little more than very well built German Buicks; good but not great power, good but not great styling, moderately rewarding driving characteristics, but nothing too hot. The one thing that is exceptional about nearly every Mercedes model is the total lack of value: They have to be the most over-priced cars on the planet (and yes, I am including AMs and Rolls-Royces in that analysis).cenotaph said:

If I was given an SL, I might keep it, but I would be just as tempted to sell it.

Rough life! Real rough...SteelGray02ci said:As much as I tried, I couldn't get my wife to switch over to BMW. She's been wanting the SL500 for so long and now that the body style has changed she was desperate to get it before the older, more classic styling would be impossible to get new. She doesn't like the new retro styling and wanted a specific color so it was tough to locate an '02 model with everything she wanted. This weekend we finally found one and she couldn't be happier. I have to admit, the car looks really nice, but on the other hand, my 330ci seems quicker despite the 75+ hp and torque I'm giving up to her. She's more into style than she is performance so this is a good car for her. My guess is I'll be driving the bimmer and thinking I still have the better car.
